Frank Mattern has been a Senior Partner at McKinsey & Company and has served global corporations, financial institutions, and the public sector over 27 years.
He was elected Partner in 1995 and Senior Partner in 1999. From 1997 to 2001 he led McKinsey & Company’s German Financial Institutions Group, in 1997 he co-founded McKinsey’s Business Technology Office which he led worldwide from 2001 to 2006. Between 2007 and 2013 he was Managing Partner of McKinsey & Company’s German Office. From 2009 to 2015 he was a member of McKinsey & Company’s Global Operating Committee. He was elected into McKinsey & Company’s Global Board of Directors – Shareholders Council – in 2002 and served until 2017.
Other significant leadership roles within McKinsey & Company include being a member and chair of the Compensation Policy Committee, leading McKinsey & Company’s Functional Practices worldwide (Business Technology, Marketing & Sales, Operations, Organization, Risk, Strategy & Corporate Finance), being McKinsey’s Global Head of Recruiting, and the Chairman of the McKinsey Global Institute.
Frank Mattern left McKinsey & Company in the summer of 2017. He studied Business Administration and Economics at Westphalia Wilhelm University of Münster, Germany, and the London School of Economics. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Born in Krefeld, Germany, he is married and has three children.
